With 403 goals scored in 750 games, Pepe (José Macia) is the runner up top scorer in Santos Futebol Clube history. For more than 15 years, he was the attacking partner of Pelé, and other luminaries, in one of the best squads in Soccer's history. His potent and precise left foot kick earned him the nickname "cannon" for his astonishing goals scored in unstoppable bending shots, many in free-kicks, one of his specialties. The legendary England's goalkeeper Gordon Banks was one of his victims in Wembley, in 1963.
Among its career titles for Santos FC, Pepe has won five Brazilian Championships (1962-1965, and 1968), two Copa Libertadores (1962 and 1963), and two FIFA Intercontinental Cups (1962 and 1963). For Brazil, he is twice FIFA World Cup Champion (1958 and 1962).
